Sep 20, 2019 Grade 6 (Friday)

Hari OM Parents,
Our session today was focused on reviewing the part 1 of Mahabharata that the youths learnt in Grade 5 of balavihar.

Our session started with Likhitha Japa that helped the children and us to calm down and draw the focus to the topic of discussion. The youths were given a notebook for this purpose and they need to bring them to class everyday. We then did starting prayers and  just briefly summarized the things we did in the last class.

We used the kuru dynasty family tree to drive the review of the part 1 of  Mahabharata.  The class session was very interactive and  the children  actively participated in the discussion / Review.  We drew the family tree on the board and discussed the stories related to the each individual family member. The discussion started with King Shanthanu  meeting Goddess Ganga and on the banks of the review  and we have covered until the birth of Dhrithurashtra , Pandu and Vidhur.  The children were asked to also draw the family tree along with us well. So you should be able to see the progress we have made and probably should discuss this briefly with them.  We plan to continue this discussion further in the next class and build out the whole family tree.

The Children also learnt how to pronounce some of the  Sanskirt letters and words and this was telecast as a preamble to the Geeta chanting of Chapter 1 which the children would start learning in the next couple of weeks. We finished our session with Closing prayers followed by the Aarthi and pledge in the assembly hall.

We would like to remind you that next week (9/27) the Children and all of us would be performing the Saraswathi puja  after a short  class session  and thus request the children to wear appropriate and comfortable Indian attire that is right for the occasion. We hope all of you will join us for the puJa on this occasion as well.

Thank you and Hariom
Shankar , Sasi.  and Harinee.
