- Following this we started our first letter "A for Aspiration", with some exciting goals from kids who they wanted to be when they grow up: Spiderman to Ironman to Pilot and even a Pirate 😀.
- They learnt about aspiration through the wonderful story from Mahabharata of Drona testing his students to shoot the bird on the tree with bow & arrow, and how they should focus on their goal for success. How all the students failed his test by focusing on everything surrounding the bird, including the trees, leaves, sky, etc. Whereas Arjuna only saw the eye of the bird and Drona allowed him to shoot the arrow and hit the target (bird).
- The kids participated in a fun activity of jumping and hitting the ball. And learnt how they have to jump harder to reach higher for their goal to hit the ballon. Here is a look at their effort
- We followed this with a coloring exercise: Below is just an example
- We took a break following this and learnt a new sloka. We started with the important significance of Navaratri, the key deities whom we pray to during this festival season. Among the Devis, what is the importance of Goddess Saraswati, especially to young kids studying hard and aiming to do well in their grades:
Saraswati Namastubhyam
Varade Kaama-Roopini
Vidyaarambham Karishyaami
Siddhir-Bhavatu Me Sadaa
- We then learnt our next letter B - Brotherhood; By learning about family members in each home, then the neighborhood, the city, the state, the country and the world with pictures on the board.
- Kids learnt about we should leave together with the story about the different colors that live together in a box. And together are able to gives us a colorful picture. Similar to how we should live in peace with different people in the society as each one has its purpose.
- We followed this up with a meditation exercise / game using the marble drop. The kids really enjoyed this game and maintained absolute silence trying to concentrate and keep track of each dropping marble
