Hari Om Parents,
We had a short 50 min class yesterday after which all the kids assembled in the prayer hall for Saraswati Pooja on the occasion of Navarathri. They followed the priests instructions and did the pooja with utmost devotion.
We opened our class with OM chanting followed by Sahana vavatu prayer, we then chanted the first 3 slokas of Govinda Damodara Stotram. Please have the kids practice those at home. They should be having the hand outs.
We continued our stories from Krishna Krishna everywhere and talked about the Lord's birth which most of the kids were already very well familiar with and were excited to share the same.
We told them about how the lord manifests on earth to protect the mankind and restore righteousness whenever there are a lot of sins committed. Thats how Mother Earth goes to Lord Brahma to complain about the sins committed by people and Lord Vishnu comforts her that he would be born as Krishna and will destroy Adharma and protect the righteous.
King Ugrasena of Mathura had a beautiful, virtuous daughter princess Devaki and a wicked, powerful son Kamsa. Devaki was married to Vasudeva and when Kamsa was sending them off to their new home in his chariot a heavenly voice thundered across the sky warning him that the eighth child of his sister would kill him. This panics Kamsa who puts both of them in prison and kills all their seven children while babies. In due course when the eighth child was about to be born, Lord Vishnu manifests himself in the prison and tells Vasudeva that he would be born to them and he needs to be exchanged with the girl child of Vasudeva's friend Nanda in Gokula.
After the lord's birth at midnight the chains that bound Vasudeva dropped away, the prison doors swung open and the guards fell into deep slumber paving his way to Gokula.
