Hari OM! Parents,
We started our class with the beginning prayers followed by learning to chant the vedic chant,
Bhadram Karne Bhih…
We learned Verse 1,2 from Chapter 1 of the Bhagavad Gita, by chanting along with our Pujya Swamiji.
Recapped last class lesson regarding the 4 ashramas and its dharma.
This week our curriculum was on:
1. The law of consequence or Karma and Karma Phala
Discussed cause and effect is the relationship between 2 things, when one thing makes the other thing happen
Talked about how we should live a dharmic and an alert and vigilant life.
Our culture emphasizes that there is a continuity of existence after death. Death is only a pause in life not an end.
Taught our present life is the product of our past actions, and our future depends on the actions of the present.
Discussed cause and effect with examples by telling 2 stories:
1. Boy who cried wolf!
2. Story of Lord Krishna and Shishupala. Discussed that sometimes the effect can be seen immediately, and sometimes it may take longer.
The lord gave 100 chances to his cousin Shishupala to change himself and destroyed him when he committed the 101th mistake.
Discussed the compassionate nature of the lord, with reference to the story.
Our next chapter in our curriculum was ‘I am the author of my life’.
Discussed ‘I decide the person I want to be’.
Told 2 stories from the book about working hard with a positive attitude. Tap our potential to achieve our goal in life.
Discussed our willingness to make changes in our life to achieve our goals, both short term materialistic, and long term spiritual goals.
Discussed about our willingness to change our bad habits of thinking and reaching our goals.
Discussed about tapping our potential to reach our goals with the help of our scriptures, parents and guru.
