Nov 1, 2019 - Grade 9 (Friday)

Hari Om! Parents,

We started our class with the beginning prayers followed by chanting verses 5,6 of Chapter 1 of the Bhagavad Gita with Pujya Swamji.
We recapped last week’s lesson as to how our scriptures teach us to control and handle impurities and restlessness of the mind
We also recapped the 4 kinds of activities which we perform as a student viz,
Nita karma, Naimittika karma, Kamya karma, Nishidha karma.

This week our discussion was on 3 other types of actions which are, Sanchita Karma, Prarabdha Karma, and Agami Karma.
Sanchita karma, is the results of actions performed in all previous births which are in seed form which gives rise to endless number of births. It can be compared to a large fixed deposit consisting of different investments that mature at different times.
Prarabdha Karma, is taking birth in the present body, the actions which gives results in this very world, in the form of happiness or misery, and which can be destroyed only by enjoying or suffering them,
What we meet in life is destiny, but the way to go about it requires self effort.
We had a good discussion on this, and how we can lead an alert and vigilant life and raise ourselves to to the stature of Gandhiji or Pujya Gurudev.
Agami Karma, is the results of actions good or bad performed by the body of a wise person after the dawn of knowledge.
Also discussed scriptures provide us the art of living a noble life.
Discussed that the actions performed to implant noble qualities in us is called Samskaras.
Our scriptures lists 16 of them.
Briefly discussed 2 Samskaras as part of the life of a student,
Upanayanam or thread ceremnoy
Samavartana or the graduation ceremony
Discussed how every Samskara is a celebration in our lives

Some children came early to class to write the script of our play. Thank you Parents!
We also met on Sunday, November 3rd to finish writing the script.
The children then performed Arathi at the temple with the 8th graders leading us.
