Dec 20, 2019 - Grade 9 (Friday)

Hari Om! Parents,

We started our class with the beginning prayers followed by Gita chanting of Chapter 1.
We revised verses 1 to 6, followed by chanting of verses 13 to 16 along with Pujya Swamiji.
We then went on to our curriculum:
1. Discussion on the 4 fold caste or Varnas.
Discussed, this classification is based on the differeciaton of our gunas or qualities and karma or action and not by birth or janma.
2. Discussed, that Manu smriti says that everyone is actually born a Sudra, (jantana jayate sudrah) because at birth we are basically the raw material of life, from which anything can be made.
3. Discussed that a Brahmin is described as one who is predominantly Satvik, possessing a desire knowledge and has basic qualities of love, compassion,  faith etc.
A Ksahtriya is one who is predominantly rajasic and ambitious.
A Vaisya is one who is predominantly rajasic
A Sudra is one who is predominantly tamasic and not ambitious.
Discussed, devotion and love for the Lord helps our mind to gain purity. It also helps for the Lord to manifest in our heart.
Did an activity to know our strength.
We found that each one of us is born with a unique personal trait. Our goal is to be a satvika person, having qualities like love, compassion etc..
We concluded that to be successful we must know our strength and try to internally transform.
Also, rajas is needed for us to actively pursue our goals. Tamas is also needed as we need rest.So we should have a right mix of all the gunas to pursue an active and healthy life.

Our next BV class is on January 3rd.
Happy holidays and a very Happy New Year to all!
