Below is the update from our class grade 6 Sunday AM this week.

Shlokas
We started with regular opening prayers. We reviewed verses of Guru Sthothram- each kid chanted one verse and took turns to complete the stotram. The last verse'Tvameva matha' was chanted by all the children.
Mahabharata- our lesson
We are at the war scenario —completed days 5 through 10 today.
*Vyuhas we saw so far were krauncha, makara, vajra,eagle and crescent.
*Kaurava army being crushed by Arjuna and Bhima.
*Bhima targeting Duryodhana's brothers- Bhima's rage towards Kauravas.
*Duryodhana tries to hurt Bhima
*Drstadhyumna saves Bhima
*Satyaki takes on Bhurisravas
*Sikhandi fights Bhagadatta
*Iravan (Arjuna and Ulloopi's son is killed)
*Ghatotkacha is fierceful
*Day 10- Shikandi to lead the army and to face Bhisma
*Pandavas use Shikandi as a weapon to attack Bhishma.
*Arjuna's arrows get through Bhisma's body cracking his armor- the weight of the innumerable arrows pushes Bhisma down and he falls on to a bed of arrows.
*Arjuna shoots arrows to cushion Bhisma's head to rest upon. He shoots another arrow on the ground to make a fountain of water to quench Bhishma's thirst.

*Bhisma lays on the bed of arrows until Uttarayana
*Karna's entry.
India the sacred land- our lesson
We saw a video of the genius contributors on our Ancient India
Story time- we learned a beautiful story based on our themeof the year- Daanam, giving.
Activity time- We completed the name-tag display on poster-board. Kids wrote their names in English and the vernacular spoken at home. They all did a fabulous job. (Picture sent to whatsApp group)
Gita Time- Today we learned verses 22 and 23 from our Dear Swamiji.

Homework-Please have children complete a page of likhita japa (Om namah shivay, Om sree mathre namaha, Sriramajayam, Sreekrishna saranam mama, Hare Rama Hare Krsna) at home and bring in the likhita japa notebook to the class, thanks.
Requirements for class
*We start at 9.15 with opening prayers and it will not be nice if kids walk in while the chanting is going on. Kindly please be inside the class room on or before 9.15.
*Please send in a notebook and a pen or pencil and kindly remind them to note down important pointers which are written on the smart board as we explain.
*Noting on a solid notebook is optional (kindly no loose papers, please. If yes, please file them accordingly then and there) Please remind kids to make a good choice.
