Apr 5, 2020 - JCHYK Gr. 10-12 (Sunday AM)

Hari om everyone,

In today's class, after meditation, we chanted Aaditya hrudayam, learnt till verse 25 and chanted the second half of BG ch. 1.  Below is the recording for the new verses.

Last week's Brain Teaser: Which is the best and most useful flower in the world and why?  Feel free to dig for answers.  You may learn something you never knew!

Answer: Cotton!  The white puff-like inside of the flower is what is used to make our clothes!  It undergoes all kinds of processing to provide us with our coverage.  Had shared the below video to get a better idea about how the cotton flower is woven into usable material.  Check it out -

Today's Brain Teaser:  What is the sweetest thing in the world?  What could it be?

After answering the Brain teaser, we started planning the logistics for the teaching assignment.  As we have been speaking on the WhatsApp group, you all know that our students have been assigned to different grades.  On Apr 19th, Sunday, they will be teaching those grades (via Zoom), instead of being students!  We were happy to hear that most of them had already approached their respective class teacher groups to get their assignments.

Below are the thoughts were shared regarding this project:
  • we are NOT doing any favors to anybody by teaching in their classes
  • in fact, we are grateful to the teachers who are sparing their class time to provide us with this wonderful opportunity to be on the other side of the table and experience teaching
  • we HAVE to be pro-active in approaching them and finding out their curriculum and what they need us to do while we are in their class
  • we HAVE to be fully prepared and ready to teach by Thursday, the16th
  • send any slides/screens/videos you want to share in class to the teachers ahead of time (you won't have access to share during class, only teachers can.)
  • we are NOT going to show up in their class unprepared, then try and 'wing it'!
  • we HAVE to respect their time and the space they are providing us
  • make the best use of it to enrich the students in class as well as ourselves
  • we have to keep in mind that we are representing the Chinmaya Mission principles, what it stands for and conduct accordingly.
We have full faith that our students will do very well in front of our Bala Vihar youngstersThey will be looking up to our class children and aspire to be like them one day! Be true role models to them.

Be sure to update the spreadsheet as required, at the different stages of preparation.

Below will be the timeline to follow on Sunday, Apr 19th
  1. We will be meeting in our classroom first at 9:15 till 9:30
  2. Students will teach their respective classes from 9:30 to 10:15
  3. Re-convene in our class at 10:15
Good luck with the prep work.  Happy working!

Regards,
Rashmi and Kishore.
