Lesson:.
Group discussion of Cause and Effect per situation:
We continued our review of Mahabharata. Students recollected the stories learned from previous classes and were able to present a sequence of events. Lessons learnt from these stories were compared and analyzed to their current situations and challenges.
1. The lac Palace- Cause: Act prompted by jealousy
Effect: Pandavas were saved
Lesson: Be Alert
2. The Svayamvara of Draupadi.
3. Mother's command, Draupadi marries pandavas
Cause: Kunti asks her sons to share without thinking and without looking
Effect : Children implicitly follow mother's command.
Lessons: look, think and then say
4. The heavenly palace -Indraprastha
Cause: Wrong mind thinks of only evil ways to solve a problem
Effect: Evil acts results in unhappy life
Lessons : Duryodhana could have achieved what pandavas did by working hard or making peace. Mind management and task management.
5. The Game of Dice and Draupadi's prayer.
Cause : Yudhisthira's weakness, Ardent prayers to lord Krishna.
Effect: Pandavas lost all they had, Bhagavan comes to rescue his devotees.
Lessons: wrong habits bring disaster, how to overcome hurdles and distractions with a set goal in focus.
6. Yudhisthira plays again
Cause: Was it the wish of his uncle or his own wish?
Effect: Yudhishthira lost in gambling again
Lesson: Learn from previous mistakes. Do not give to wrong habits.
7. Pandavas exile period: The story of Yaksha prashna.
Discussion on the intense desires and their consequences, Balanced mind controlled by the intellect, How one should work on strengthening the intellect with right knowledge.
8. Pandavas incognito period, Return of Pandavas, Krishna as an envoy, War is inevitable. Duryodhana and Arjuna seek lord's help on the war, War begins.
