Hari OM! Parents,
Happy Deepavali!
We started our class with the beginning prayers followed by the Vedic Chant;
Bhadram Karne Bhih..
We then learned and chanted along with our Pujya Swamiji, Verses 3,4 from the 1st chapter of the Bhagavad Gita
We are splitting the words form the verses of the Bhagavad Gita. This year we have a reading category for the competition.
We would love for the children to participate in the competition which will be held early next year.
We the went on to our curriculum,
Recapped the lesson from last week about ‘I being the author of my life’. Also the division of our scriptures into Shruti, Smriti, Itihasa…
This week’s lesson was on,
1. Vision of our Scriptures:
Discussed the 3 strengths of a human being, which makes us unique, viz,
Ichcha Shakti—The capacity to identify the goals in our life
Kriya Shakti--- The capacity to choose and execute the goal
Gyana shakti--- Te capacity to use our intellect to achieve the goal
We can accomplish this with the help of our scriptures which consists of 3 sections;
Karma Kanda-- the ritualistic portion, which helps us to purify the mind
Upasana kanda—Meditation, which helps us to tame our restless mind
Jnana kanda—Once our mind is ready, we are ready to absorb the knowledge of the Lord and ourselves
We told the story of Alexander the Great, who had his eyes on the material world and realized his mistake towards the end of his life. We also had a discussion how we can avoid this mistake in our life.
2. We talked about everyday duties in the life of a student;
Nitya Karma—Our daily duties
Naimitika karma—Special duties on special occasion
Kamya Karma----Desire based duties
Nisiddha Karma—Wrongful actions which we should avoid
Discussed the above in detail in the life of a student.
3.Briefly discussed the significance of the Deepavali festival.
We are writing the script of our play which we will perform in December. We are planning to meet at 6.30 PM next Friday, Nov 1st. We would like all the children to be present.
Thank you!
