Nov 17, 2019 - Grade 6 (Sunday AM)

Hari Om Parents,

Below is the update from our class grade 6 Sunday AM this week.

17th November  2019 / 9:15AM
Shlokas
We started with regular opening prayers. We chanted the complete Guru Sthothram. Children did a great job, they were loud and clear.
Lesson
Today's lesson we learned a few episodes from Mahabharata.
* Kunti meeting "Dhana Veera Soora" Karna. He says Mataji will always have 5 children (including either him or Arjuna after the war)
* Krishna goes to Pandavas after his Santhidoot visit to Hastinapur. He says the war is sure to happen.
* War preparations gets rolling.
* Venue is decided as the Dharmaplace- The Kurukshetra
* Pandavas and Kauravas set up camps on the either side of the Hiravati river
* Planning for the war in both the camps.
* Spy network in full action.
* Dhristadyuma Pandavas' commander in chief.
* Bhisma Pitamah the Kauravas' commander in chief.
* His rules- He will not harm the pandavas.
He will not have Karna fighting under his leadership.
He will not fight against Sikhandi who he knew that it's none other than Amba from the previous birth. (He will not fight against any woman)
* Lord Krishna gets ready as Partha's Sarathy.
* Balarama gives his army Vrshni to Pandavas and leaves to Pilgrimage and thus not participating in the war.
* Rukmi alsooffers his army- Arjuna politely refuses and Duryodhana subsequently refuses Rukmi's.
We reviewed the first 4 verses of Gita chapter 1 and then recorded as a group reading to get house points. We sent the email of our recording.
It was the TV time for Gita. We learned verses 5 and 6 from Swamiji's teachings.
Arathi/Pledge
It was our class' turn to lead arathi today. We practiced with full dedication in our class before going to the mandapa. The children did a great job doing Radhakrisna arathi, regular arathi, chinmaya arathi, santhi mantra and the pledge.
We are very happy to see some kids take down notes/pointers as we teach/discuss. It's optional to take down class notes but it is definitely helpful in future for any reference.

Requirements for class
*We start at 9.15 with opening prayers and it will not be nice if kids walk in while the chanting is going on. Kindly please be inside the class room on or before 9.15.
*Please send in a notebook and a pen or pencil and kindly remind them to note down important pointers which are written on the smart board as we explain.
*Noting on a solid notebook is optional (kindly no loose papers, please. If yes, please file them accordingly then and there) Please remind kids to make a good choice.

Next class is on 11/24/19.
Please write back or text with questions or queries you may have.
Thank you all.
