Nov 24, 2019 - JCHYK Gr. 10-12 (Sunday AM)

HariOm JCHYK parents,

This class was the Sunday before the Thanksgiving holiday.  We started the class with prayers followed by guided meditation.  Our objective through meditation was to increase the awareness and distinction between the Self (Athman) and the BMI equipment.  Through increased awareness the goal was to lead to strengthening our Viveka and Vairagya in our daily transactional lives.

After meditation we chanted Gita Chapter 1, verses 1-12.

We started by discussing "Tat Tvam Asi" and the organization of the chapters of the Gita.  Up to this class we were reviewing chapters 1-6 which we explained as "Tvam".  We would next move on with the curriculum with chapter 7 explaining that chapters 7-12 discussed "Tat".

Our class today was just the very beginning of chapter 7 and we discussed the following questions and topics from Chapter 7 "The Yoga of Knowledge and Wisdom":

1. What is the difference between Knowledge and Wisdom?

2. Which would you rather be considered and strive for?

3. If there is an inner conflict or disturbance does knowledge or wisdom remove it?

4. How does knowledge turn into wisdom,?

5. There is knowledge about performing selfless acts.  But actually doing it results in wisdom.  So will applying knowledge result in wisdom later?

6. Krishna says once you Know me nothing more remains to be known.  What could that mean?

7. Krishna says Dharma of everything is me.  What does that mean?

We will continue Chapter 7 in the coming weeks and our next class will be December 8.

Om Shanti,
Rashmi and Kishore
