Below is the update from our class grade 6 Sunday AM this week.

Shlokas
We started with regular opening prayers. We chanted the complete Guru Sthothram.
Lesson
We started with a recap of the last week's Mahabharata lessons- episodes, war preparations.
1.Rules of the war- *Dawn to Dusk- Sankhanaadam to sankhanaadam
*Equals to fight with equals
*Unarmed can't be harmed.
2. Bhisma's point of view (not hurting Pandavas, no fight against a woman, Karna not to fight under his leadership)
3. Both the sides commanders in chief
4.Saarathy getting ready as unarmed (Lord Krishna)
5. Camps on the either sides of Hiravati river prep up for the massive war.
6. Spy network in action.
In Hastinapur Sage VedaVyasa offers to grant Divyadrsti to the king Dhritharastra but the latter denies but asks for his personal charioteer Sanjaya.
We learned our National Emblems from India the Sacred Land topic.
1. Flag- symbolic representation of our country. Color of renunciation and sacrifice- kesar or orange. Nobility and peace is white. 24 spikes the wheel of dharma. Prosperity showing the green. It's hand spun/woven. Manugactured only in Karaataka gramodyog sanga.
2. Emblem- Taken from Saranath pillar of Dharma. 4 lions engraved on the pillar facing 4 directions. This pillar signifies peace and righteousness. Inspiring to march along Dharma, Satyameva jayate "Truth alone triumphs" engraved.
3. Flower- Lotus. Symbol of truth, auspiciousness and beauty. Opens at dawn and closes at dusk like the mind opens and calms down at dusk after a series of work in a rightful way. In chapter 5 of the Holy Gita, Bagawan says, "A lotus plant grows in a pond, rooted in water, drawing nutrients from water, but leaves and flowers remain dry"
4. Bird- Peacock- represents the colorful life.
5. Animal- Tiger- represents fearlessness and royal grace. Alert and swift while working towards our goals in life.
6. Fruit- Mango a tropical fruit contains Vitamins A,C,D. India produces a 100 varieties of mangoes in different sizes, shapes and colors.
7. Tree- The Banyan tree. Giving shelter (like the country shelters all types of religions and castes) and under which the village gathers to settle dispute and transact affaits. It's a mark of justice. It's ozone is good for the atmosphere.
8. Anthem- written by the noble prize winner Sri. Rabindraath Tagore ji who saw oneness in every aspect of nature and human kind and this inspired him to write which subsequently inspired the nation to work towards the freedom struggle in a fair way.
The message given by each emblem- 1.to speak the truth.
2. Lead an unattachedlife (more like non materialistic)
3. Fearlessly roar around like a tiger following the dharma.
4. By leading a noble life making ourselves presentable and colorful.
Awards
Bharatratna- Highest civilian honor.
Padmavibhusan, Padmabhusan and Padmasree for exceptional and distinguished service of high order in the field ofArts, Science, literature, Public service etc.
ARJUNA awards exclusively for exceptional feat in the field of sports.

We saw a 7 1/2 minutes video on the national emblems.

It was the Gita TV time and we learned verses 7 and 8 from our dear swamiji.(link sent in whatsapp)
We had a little Thanks giving munchkins treat/party for doing a great job in working Gita slokams.
Activity/game
Children were asked to write 5 things about "how and to whom are they thankful"- Count your blessings! They all had their own beautiful perspective in expressing their thankfulness.
Requirements for class
*We start at 9.15 with opening prayers and it will not be nice if kids walk in while the chanting is going on. Kindly please be inside the class room on or before 9.15.
*Please send in a notebook and a pen or pencil and kindly remind them to note down important pointers which are written on the smart board as we explain.
*Noting on a solid notebook is optional (kindly no loose papers, please. If yes, please file them accordingly then and there) Please remind kids to make a good choice.
