Hari Om Parents!
We started our class with opening prayers followed by an exciting discussion about 'trick or treating'.
After a recap of the story of Kali & King Parikshit narrated last week, we moved onto the story of how King Parikshit got cursed. It is an interesting story in which King Parikshit goes hunting, gets lost in a jungle and reaches sage Shamika's ashram. He wasn't happy that sage Shamika( who was in deep meditation) didn't respond to his queries. King Parikshit insults Sage Shamika by putting a dead snake around the sage's neck. Sage's son, Srinigi, comes to know about the insult to his father and cursed that King Parikshit would die in a week. As a class, we discussed what mistakes were done by King Parikshit and by Sringi. Kids learned that actions have consequences and that two wrongs don't make a right- in any situation. Please ask children how the curse worked despite the security that the king had.
As planned, the class picture was taken. Thank you for dressing the kids in Indian wear. They looked great.
We learned slokas 8 & 9 in Gurustotram and practiced chanting from 1 thru 9.
Likhita Japa is a big hit with kids. They enjoy doing it.
Swamiji taught the next 2 slokas (Chapter 1 - 3&4). Please check the link and help kids practice these slokas.
There is no class next Sunday(11/10/2019).
We will meet again on 11/17/2019.
