Below is the update from our class grade 6 Sunday AM this week.

Shlokas
Class begun with opening prayers. We chanted mahalakshmi sthothram as a competition between two groups. Both groups chanted equally well.
Game/Activity
Then we played a game "who am I" based on characters from Mahabharata. .The kids picked chits with clues of the characters and identified the character 'who am I" . Then they had to find others who were the same character, form a group and put together the chits to solve the jigsaw puzzle. We had characters like Arjuna, Bhima, Draupadi and Duryodhana.
Today was picture day and the children came in colorful Indian outfits.
Lesson
Our lesson today was "India the sacred land". We learned about Vedas
*how it was handed down to posterity by oral tradition.
*4 Vedas are rig, yajur, sama and atharva.
*Vedavyasa compiled them.
*Vedas teach us how to live our lives
* how we get out of the cycle of birth and death
*upanishads are called vedanta and are interpretations of Vedas
*gurudev says Vedas are science of living
*Ganesha writing the Mahabharata -story *epics if India
*"Mahabharat" our lesson
*Bhagavad Gita song of God-
1. teaches how to live life and attain self-knowledge
2.attain liberation from pains in life by living
3. Liberate ourselves from the cycle of birth and death.
Why India is sacred?
1. Guru sisya parampara
2. Showing the attitude of the gratitude 3. Worshipping our parents, nature includes rivers, mountains, sun, moon, planets, worshipping animals and plants.
India's struggle for independence in a peaceful, nonviolence manner under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhiji. He says

Gita Chanting
We learned verses 3 and 4 from Swamiji's Gita chanting link from the T.V. Link sent in whatsapp class group.
Requirements for class
*We start at 9.15 with opening prayers and it will not be nice if kids walk in while the chanting is going on. Kindly please be inside the class room on or before 9.15.
*Please send in a notebook and a pen or pencil and kindly remind them to note down important pointers which are written on the smart board as we explain.
*Noting on a solid notebook is optional (kindly no loose papers, please. If yes, please file them accordingly then and there) Please remind kids to make a good choice.
