Below is the update from our class grade 6 Sunday AM this week.

Shlokas
We started with regular opening prayers. We chanted the complete Guru Sthothram.
Lesson Mahabharata
We started with a recap of the last week's Mahabharata lessons- episodes, war preparations.
*Vyasa grants divine vision to Sanjaya.
*Warriors from both sides meet and set the rules of the war and *Bhishma's address to all his warriors
*Story of Hanumanji's presence on Arjuna's flag
*Noble act of Yudhishtira before the war.
Activity-
We then watched a video of the war preparations and briefly the first 3 days of the war (3rd day not completed yet) just to make children understand the formation and pattern design of the army/armies (vyuha)

Lesson India the sacred land
*India as a subcontinent.
*Only country in the world after which an ocean is named.
*Land/countries in the North and 3 water bodies in the west,east and south, making a peninsula.
*Geographical relief features-
1. The mountains in the North
2. The Indo gangetic plains
3. The Deccan plateau
4. The east coastal plains
5. The west coastal plains.
It was an interactive session with maps in hand. Children gave good geographical points, mostly relevant to the topic.
It was the Gita learning from T.V. and we learned verses 9 and 10 from our Dear Swamiji.

We practiced what we learned so far and then recorded the group reading chant from verses 5 to 8 to gain house points.
Gentle reminder- - Registrations for Art contest, Shlokathon and Likhita Japa submissions are now open.
Requirements for class
*We start at 9.15 with opening prayers and it will not be nice if kids walk in while the chanting is going on. Kindly please be inside the class room on or before 9.15.
*Please send in a notebook and a pen or pencil and kindly remind them to note down important pointers which are written on the smart board as we explain.
*Noting on a solid notebook is optional (kindly no loose papers, please. If yes, please file them accordingly then and there) Please remind kids to make a good choice.
