Apr 19, 2020 - Grade 2 (Sunday AM)

Hari Om parents,

Hope all of you are doing well and had a restful spring break! We had a wonderful class this Sunday. We had two Junior Chyk's Ashwin & Arjun who conducted the class alongside us. The kids enjoyed the quiz planned by the bhaiyyas as well as enjoyed listening to the wonderful story.

      Summary of April 19 2020  -
1. Opening prayers 3 OM's followed by Vakratunda, Saraswati Namastubhyam and Guru Bramha.
2. Further we chanted the Dhyaan Shlok
3. Introduced the JCHYK's - Ashwin & Arjun to the class. The JCHYK's shared with kids their hobbies, things they like and don't like etc.
4. We had a interesting quiz prepared by the bhaiyyas. It was of course on the hero of our class- Lord Hanuman ji. It was beautifully prepared and had some fun options to choose from. The kids loved answering questions. It was a very interactive session and the kids were engaged.
5. Story time - It's the Lord's wish : "Everything that happens, happens for the best " . It is a story of king and his loyal minister - one day they go hunting and get separated from army in the forest. The minister says - everything ....happens for the best. King is not happy and does not see how getting lost is good. It's dark by now and King's horse tripped and king broke his finger. The minister says- "everything...  happens for the best". King is furious but could not afford to kill the minister as he will be left alone. They are tired, hungry and lost. They find a deep well with little water and minister says " everything......  best". The king can no longer take it. He pushes the minister and the minister still says his usual thing. King starts walking around and is captured by a tribe who offer human sacrifices to please their god. They take the king on altar to sacrifice and as the sword is about to hit the king, one of the tribesmen say " Stop! he is incomplete, our god will be offended". His finger is broken so he is not complete. The king is saved. He remembers now what his minister had said. He runs back towards the well to pull out the minister. The minister was cold, bitten by insects. The king apologized and said to the minister " Now I understand your words, but what good did happen to you by falling in the well ? "

Can you tell me what the minister said ? Ask your children. Hence the moral of the story is - " Everything that happens, happens for the best".
The JCHYK's enacted the story very well and captured the interest of kids. Kids enjoyed listening to the story. They also told the kids how this story connects us to the times we are in. So we had a brief question answer session about what are some good things we are getting by staying home. Sleeping a little longer, spending time with family, talking with extended family virtually and the one which all kids agreed to was watching TV more :).
6. We had closing prayers and in the end kids asked some questions to bhaiyyas.

A big thank you to Ashwin and Arjun for the wonderful session and we would love to have them back again sometime. See you all again on Sunday at 9:15 am.

Regards,
Rupa & Chitra.
